Full Galaga Arcade Game Score Booster Guide For Palm and Pocket PC

galaga-arcade-game-two-ship-strategy

If the classic Galaga arcade game for Palm and Pocket PC is wearing your right thumb to a nub without pushing past stage 15, something's wrong.

I've compiled some Galaga tips if you're still struggling to rack up at least 25,000 points in arcade style alien ship destruction.

The Tractor Beam Advantage

If you're a bit of a novice, you'll find that tractor beam annoying, but it can aid you like nothing else if used correctly.

If your ship is pulled up by the tractor beam, keep on firing ... your lasers aren't disabled, just your propulsion.

Your ship will spin helplessly like a pinwheel, but a few choice shots will destroy a couple of enemy ships unfortunate enough to be caught in the way.

There's also a slight chance of taking out your tractor-pulling assailant, in which case you'll receive a cool 400 points.

When your ship is abducted, ensure that you take it out mid-flight, not when it's hovering waiting to pounce.

The ship will be added alongside your existing one, doubling your firepower.

Such Galaga arcade game tactics increase your likelihood of surviving the first few frantic stages.

'Challenge Stage' Tactics

galaga-fighter-captured Many games took their cue from the idea of a 'bonus stage', and the Galaga arcade game implemented it first, referred to as the 'challenge stage'.

The Challenge Stage consists of one or two fleets at a time, which attack and then move off of the playing field into space.

First Challenge Stage

The first Galaga arcade game Challenge Stage you encounter does not have to be hard fought.

You'll find that a couple of the enemy ship bee swarms will arc in mid-flight and then turn directly towards your direction.

If you only have one ship without the additional power-up, placing the ship alternately a little to the left or right will allow you to decimate all the enemy ships.

Just hold your position and fire rapidly, and they will all perish in mid-flight.

Doing this will grant you an additional 1000 points, pushing you even closer to your bonus ship addition at 20,000 points.

General Enemy Unit Strategies

The white Galaga arcade game ships with red wings generally curve less steeply in flight galaga-fighter-captured than the yellow and red 'bee' ships.

Also, bee ships have a tendency of popping back up directly under your ship, giving you little chance of getting out the way.

Keep your ship well away from the area in which the bee ship plunges. This will save you from immediate disintegration from behind.

Galaga Arcade Game Scare Tactics

Just when you think you know your enemy ship's individual flight plans, Galaga will throw you for a loop.

In stage 4, the stage will commence with the bee swarms joining the remaining hovering enemy ships as usual.

At this stage of the game they will dive bomb steeply at a sharp, deadly angle at a rapid clip. galaga-two-ship-strategy Take out as many bee ships as you can when the fleets are first arriving on to the playing field.

This will reduce the chances of a dive bomb attack smashing your ship into oblivion. Evade the dive bomb attacks by waiting for the bees to fly in circular formation.

When this occurs, immediately move your ship far away from the position it was in when the circular flying ritual begins.

This is because your little bee Kamikaze opponent will aim for the spot that your ship was in when the circular formation began, not the new position.

I've managed to employ this last Galaga arcade game tactic with great success.
